Hummingbird Resources plc (AIM: HUM), is pleased to announce it has appointed Mr. Kevin Moxham as General Manager for the Yanfolila Gold Project (‘Yanfolila’) in Mali.
Mr. Moxham is a professional engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the effective management and commissioning of mining projects in jurisdictions including Ghana, Eritrea, Tanzania and South Africa.
Mr. Moxham was most recently General Manager and Head of Operations at Newmont Golden Ridge Ltd. Whilst in this role, he oversaw commissioning and production of the 9mtpa Akyem Gold Mine (‘Akyem’) in Ghana. Akyem was ranked the best company by the Ghana Club 100 and was awarded the best mine in Ghana for 2014 and 2015 and the best mine in innovation and technology in 2015. Akyem was the only mine in Newmont’s history to achieve more than 400 days of zero lost time injuries. Prior to this, Mr. Moxham was Executive General Manager at Bisha Mining Share Company in Eritrea where he successfully managed the construction, commissioning and operations at the 1.8mtpa gold plant and the 2.4mtpa copper plant. Mr. Moxham also held several senior roles at the Barrick Gold Corporation, Gold Fields Ltd (‘Global head of engineering’), Lonmin Platinum Mines and Anglo American.
